Winning and losing

In a few short days I win a Highly Commended in the South Perth emerging artist competition, have my latest story rejected by a publisher, sell one small print at an Art Market and conduct a story telling session in a tent for five children.

My life as an artist is one of winning and losing but always there is the drive to create. Art and writing are my life. I know no other way to live.When I sell a painting or have a new book accepted I have learnt to celebrate because around the corner there may be another dry patch.

Winning and losing are the same. When either happen there follows a time for reflection. Where to now? The answer comes eventually and I am back in the studio working.
